Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk put their heavyweight titles on the line in a blockbuster showdown in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Saturday, May 18.

The winner will become the first man to hold all four heavyweight titles at the same time - as Usyk holds the WBA, WBO and IBF belts, while Fury is the reigning WBC champion.

Both men boast unbeaten records, as Usyk has a perfect 21 wins in 21 fights while Fury has 34 victories and a draw, which came in the first of his three meetings with Deontay Wilder.

Fury has previously held the titles that are now in Usyk’s possession after he defeated Wladimir Klitschko in 2015 but he vacated those belts during a period of inactivity. Usyk is a former unified cruiserweight champion and he became a two-weight world champion by overcoming Anthony Joshua in 2021.

There is also a huge cruiserweight bout on the card as Jai Opetaia and Mairis Briedis meet for the second time for the vacant IBF belt, plus a super featherweight showdown between Anthony Cacace and Joe Cordina.

Usyk was considered an underdog by most observers when the fight was first announced but the Ukrainian has become the favorite as Fury’s preparations have appeared chaotic at times.

Fury has all the advantages when it comes to size and reach but he was perhaps fortunate to be awarded a points win over Francis Ngannou in his last bout, in what should have been an easy night’s work for the WBC champion. Ngannou was boxing for the first time in a professional contest after leaving the UFC but knocked Fury down in the third round and nearly pulled off a monumental upset.

Anthony Joshua made light work of Ngannou earlier this month, which makes Fury’s loss to the former UFC heavyweight champion perhaps even more concerning for his camp.

This date with Usyk had to be postponed due to a cut Fury received in sparring, and his disjointed preparations, combined with the below-par display against Ngannou, have led to questions over his fitness ahead of this blockbuster clash.

Usyk was last seen claiming a ninth round TKO win over Daniel Dubois in August. Dubois did appear to knock the Ukrainian down with a body shot - but it was deemed a low blow and Usyk was given extra time to recover.

In terms of value, backing Fury could be the way to go as he has significant height, reach and general size advantages. These attributes were regarded as too great for Usyk to counter not too long ago and if Fury is on top of his game he could be simply too much for Usyk to cope with.

Jai Opetaia already has one win over Mairis Briedis on his record and he is the clear favorite at -533* while Briedis is available at +378*.

Opetaia won the IBF cruiserweight title by beating Briedis via unanimous decision in July 2022 and then successfully defended it with a TKO win over Jordan Thompson.

He was forced to vacate it in order to face Ellis Zorro on the ‘Day of Reckoning’ card in Saudi Arabia in December but can reclaim the belt in May.

Briedis is an experienced fighter but he has been out of the ring since that loss to Opetaia. Earlier in his career, the Latvian gave Usyk a tough test in a majority decision defeat but he is perhaps now a fighter in decline, while Opetaia is at the peak of his powers.

Opetaia managed to win the last bout despite suffering a broken jaw and should be too good for Briedis once again, so the value play here is perhaps backing the Australian to win and another points win looks the more likely outcome - as Briedis has never been stopped or even knocked down in a 30-fight career.

Anthony Cacace vs. Joe Cordina odds

Also on the card is the super featherweight showdown between Northern Ireland's Anthony Cacace and Welshman Joe Cordina.

Cordina is the current IBF title holder and is looking to retain the belt for the third time, with the former European amateur champion unbeaten in his 17 professional fights so far.

Cacace has lost just one of his 22 professional bouts and is the IBO super featherweight champion.

Cordina is the strong -574* favorite to win the fight, while Cacace is listed at +400*.
